Hi GI,

I have not been a windows user for a while now but my suggestion would be to move or rename the "console.xml" file and then try restarting. IIRC Console dies almost immediately if it can't read or process that file correctly.

Sorry I can't be of more help :-/

Console2 on Windows 7 -64 SP1 question.

Console has stopped working for sometime, specifically, I remember some random window popped up with WoW64 related message (I don't remember exact message now but WoW64 word was definitely there for sure) and ignorantly I just went ahead with it pressing Yes/OK on that pop up, since that time Console/2 never worked.

Clicking on .exe just tries for some time launching it and sadly dies (that circle thingy stays on some time).

I checked task manager but no sign of any process running there, changed security settings on .exe file and on whole folder but no luck.

Please note as of today (11/26/11) I uninstalled and installed many times, I've already tried on all available versions including dev. version 2.0 and stable versions 1.5, 1.42 and one more prior.

Does anybody know why it dies before launch? Help very much appreciated.

Thanks,
GI

Is there an easy way to use rxvt with console2? Each rxvt shell is being opened in a new window?

@Eliot - Thanks for the response. I have been using a Mac full time for a few months now, and haven't had a chance to play with Console2. The features you mention do sound really useful. Perhaps one of these days I will fire up my old Windows box and take a look around.

I have set this up on my machine. Recent releases of Console2 have a tab editor under Settings -> Tabs where you can specify templates for each kind of tab and which shell to use, etc.

You can also create shortcuts to Console2 telling it to launch one of the tabs when it opens - by default, the tab template at the top of the list in settings is used.

The shortcut would look something like this:
C:\Users\eliot\Applications\x86\Console2\Console.exe -t Cygwin

Where "Cygwin" is the name you've given the tab in preferences. You have to specify in the preferences pane that the Cygwin tab should use this shell:
cmd.exe /k C:\cygwin\Cygwin.bat
Or whatever the path is to your Cygwin.bat.

I can't believe how useful this post is, even if it was written 3 years ago. I needed to use the cygwin tab, thanks.
